Andhra University Campus KakinadaThe Andhra University Campus, Kakinada lies on the East coast in the East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh, India. The campus has been carefully nurtured in academic and service activities since its establishment in November 1977. At present the center is ideally located in between 213 National Highway and Kakinada Port – Samalkot ADB Road in a 50.93 acres site at Thimmapuram village. The Campus is at a distance of nine kilometers from Kakinada Town Railway Station. The environment and facilities at the Centre are very conducive to learning. The Campus is offering the following courses:
The Andhra University, Visakhapatnam started the Andhra University Post Graduate Courses, in November 1977 at the erstwhile Pithapur Rajah's Government College hostel buildings, Suryaraopet, Kakinada to cater to the educational needs of the people of the Godavari districts. The University introduced three courses viz., M.A., in English, and M.A., in Politics and Public Administration. The institution of A.U.P.G.Courses started functioning under a Special Officer posted by the University. For the benefit of the students pursuing the courses in higher education, it provided an attached hostel to the students for both boys and girls. In 1981, the Andhra University with a view to grant some autonomy changed the name of the Andhra University P.G.Courses to Andhra University P.G.Extension Centre and then to Andhra University P. G Centre. Subsequently, Sri.Malladi Satyalinga Naikar Charities donated an extent of Ac 40.38 cents of land to the Centre in Thimmapuram (village), Kakinada Rural Mandal. A Building with 22,053 sft. was constructed in the said land in the year 1989 with an estimated cost of 45 lakh rupees. The A.U.P.G. Centre was shifted to its new building in June 1993 with a new caption as Andhra University M.S.Naicker P.G.Center. An extent of Ac.6.13 cts. land adjacent to the A.U.M.S.Naicker P.G.Centre land was purchased. The needed Infrastructure facilities have been thus provided along with the introduction of new courses in M.B.A., M.C.A. and, M.A.(Economics). A cycle shed was constructed in the year 1995. The Andhra University Emblem was inserted in May 1998 by the then Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Prof.Rokkam Radhakrishna. The ladies hosel buIlding and the canteen building were inaugurated by the then Vice-Chancellor Prof. Y.C.Simhadri on 29-04-2004. The first floor on main building which was completed with a cost of Rs.70 lakhs and a library building with 6400 sft. were inaugurated by Prof.K.C. Reddy, Chairman, A.P.S.C.H.E., Hyderabad on 6 th July 2006. Further, the foundation stones for Boys Hostel Mess building and Hostel Building were laid down by J.C.Diwakar Reddy, Minister for Panchayati Raj under the stewardship of the present Vice-Chancellor Prof. L.Venugopal Reddy on 23, June 2007.
